Who we are

A collaborative team of experienced consultants, led by Emma Rea, the founder of Number71.

We come from a diverse range of backgrounds - customer insight, innovation, advertising, FMCG marketing, retail, design...

All our consultants have at least 15 years' experience in their specialist field.

Based in North London, we spend most of our time out and about, poking around customers' lives, in client businesses, or on the shopfloor. We like to work at a grassroots level, constantly searching for that fresh piece of insight that will unlock a client's business issue.

Emma Rea

Emma has over 20 years' experience in defining and building brands through consumer insight, brand development, innovation and advertising strategy and execution. She now runs Number 71, a consumer-insight driven brand consultancy, working with clients including Unilever, Taylors of Harrogate, BSkyB, Pure Collection, notonthehighstreet.com and Arcadia.

Helen Weavers

Helen has 20 years' experience developing brands and communications through marrying the consumer and business perspective. Having worked within leading advertising agencies as a strategic planner for 14 years, she has spent the last 6 years providing consultancy and market research for brand owners in all sorts of categories and agencies within advertising, design, digital and brand experience.

Lisa Spinks

A communications and marketing expert with 11 years' experience working with a broad spectrum of clients: fashion, food, shoes, TV, gaming, government, tourism and charities. Lisa has spent much of her career developing brands' relationships with their customers from a predominantly advertising perspective, and is now bringing that expertise to client companies in a broader context.

Jackie Naghten

An experienced commercial business leader who has 20 years' experience in High Street retail including at Debenhams, Marks & Spencer and Arcadia. Jackie has extensive experience across all aspects of retail but specifically buying, merchandising and marketing. Jackie works independently with a variety of clients, typically fast-growing owner/founder businesses, helping them to hone their proposition, understand their customer and professionalise their teams.

Sally Burrell

Sally spent 20 years working as a strategic planner in leading advertising agencies, working with some of the world's largest brands. She works regularly with Emma and the Number 71 team and has specialist knowledge of improving the instore customer experience. She has recently worked with Argos, Premier Foods & Fat Face, helping them to understand their customers, define their brand promise and to redefine & implement their customer experiences in jewellery, in-store bakery and clothing respectively.

Sarah Graves

An architect with nearly 20 years experience, Sarah has delivered thousands of square feet of retail across many household brands. Sarah part owns and runs IDL; an architectural practice built upon retail knowledge of how to make the spaces work within the store, how to implement a project, within budget and programme. She has built up a varied and loyal client base including:  Primark, TK Maxx, M&S,  Monsoon Accessorize, Burberry, Pret a Manger, Neal's Yards Remedies, Champneys.
